Online Portal for New Net Metering Connections
On Tuesday, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari addressed the ministry cabinet to simplify the process of new net metering connections. In this regard, the authorities have made a significant development by introducing the new online portal system for new net metering connections.
Awareness program
The awareness program about the use of the portal has been launched, and proper training should be provided to related officials to ease the process and make things smoother for the public. And also, this process should be user-friendly as well.
Furthermore, the minister says that the Government is trying to regulate the net metering system. Through this system, the amount of burden on consumers will decrease in the future. Practical and technical knowledge about the use of the portal should be provided to the employees of power distribution companies.

Role of Relevant Authorities
Then he says the relevant authorities should make a check and balance system, and they must have to address all the relevant problems and issues that can occur in this process and overcome them, and run this program very smoothly. And he says the ministry itself will pay close attention to these matters and make sure the process is simple and user-friendly.
The Report of the Economic Coordination Committee
The minister says, we are launching the awareness program through the various media platforms to provide the necessary knowledge of this portal among the consumers of electricity in the country. A few months ago, on the report of (ECC) the Economic Coordination Committee the government made a significant amount of reduction in the buyback rate of net metering electricity that is supplied back to the national grid.

Criticism
On the basis of this decision, the consumers are bearing a significant loss of 17 rupees per unit. This decision is made on the increasing number of net metering users. On this decision, the government faced a lot of criticism made by the consumers, industry experts, and other stakeholders. This criticism made the government think about its decision.
Conclusion: New Government Policy
After all of this, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, took action and asked all the authorities to rethink this decision and made a policy that addresses all the issues by checking all the facts and figures, and also clears all the concerns of the public on the government solarisation policy. Later on, the Prime Minister’s office says the government is not changing its policy over the solarisation system, and that taking care of the public interest should be the first priority of the government.
